Natural Remedies for Canker Sores

Every now and then canker sores appear. Usually as a result of
physical trauma, like biting your lip, but diet and stress can also attribute to the formation of canker sores. Without having any over the counter or pharmaceutical treatments, there must be a natural remedy for treating canker sores. There are; here are a few interesting remedies using things you most likely already have in your kitchen:

  • Salt – A well known, common treatment for mouth sores is salt. You can rinse your mouth out a few times a day with salt water. Or if your brave, apply salt directly onto the sore. It will burn, but the pain will subside as well as reduce the swelling.
  • Cayenne- Much like salt, apply ground cayenne directly to the sore. The cayenne, or capsaicin will reduce swelling and pain.
  • Aloe Vera- Aloe Vera is a natural antiseptic. Pure aloe vera gel or juice can be applied directly to the sore. It reduces swelling slightly and relieves pain. Also, it burns a lot less than the salt and cayenne.

When utilizing any of these methods, repeat a few times a day until your symptoms subside. After a few days if there is still no change, you may want to consult your dentist or doctor.
