Coconut Oil is a delicious, versatile oil that should be in everybody’s cupboard. It is a great substitute for other oils in cooking and baking recipes. Using coconut oil instead of butter in baking recipes helps to make your favorite treats vegan while adding a slight coconut flavor.
One of the greatest uses of coconut oil is as a moisturizer. It softens the skin without leaving it feeling oily. In fact, it just feels soft and moisturized longer than regular lotion. The anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties of the oil aid in reduced skin irritation caused by acne, rash, and even psoriasis.
Here is a recipe for another great use of coconut oil:
Coconut Oil & Tea Tree Face Scrub
- 1/2 Cup Organic Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Organic Coconut Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Honey
- 10(ish) Drops of Tea Tree Oil
Mix all ingredients together. Store in fridge to extend shelf life and solidify mixture. Good for 7-10 days
Scrub mixture on face and skin and rinse with cool water. The sugar acts as the scrubbing agent while the coconut oil, honey and tea tree, all with anti-fungal and anti-septic qualities, work to clean and moisturize your skin!
