
Summer Time Smoothies
Summer is approaching, and that means hot weather, swimming, barbecues, and cold beverages. A great way to stay healthy and hydrated is with smoothies. Smoothies can be packed with vital nutrients and essential vitamins and minerals. To get a great variety of these essential nutrients, a smoothie should be balanced. A balanced smoothie would have greens, fruits or vegetables, nuts or seeds and a liquid of choice. To help you get started here are a few wonderful smoothies to keep you refreshed and healthy this summer:
Kale Lemonade
1/2 Banana
1-2 cups Kale (without stems)
1/4 cup Lemonade (like Santa Cruz)
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
1/4 Water
(Ice is optional for a thicker or colder smoothie)
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Pom Beach Punch
1/2 cup Blueberries
1/3 cup Pomegranate Kernels
1/4 cup Strawberries
1/2 Banana
1 tbsp Flax Seeds
1/4 cup Water
(Ice is optional for a thicker or colder smoothie)
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Top with Pomegranate Kernels (optional)
Pina-Kale-Ada
1 cup Pineapple
1 cup Kale (without stems)
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
1 /4 cup Coconut Water
(Ice is optional for a thicker or colder smoothie)
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Top with Shredded Coconut (optional)
