Spices Vs. Herbs
The words spices and herbs are often used interchangeably to describe the seasonings and flavors we add to food. They both also hold medicinal qualities and benefits to them. So what is the difference?
The difference between spices and herbs lies in where they came. Herbs are the leafy part of a plant. They can be used either fresh or dried. Spices come from the seed, root, bark or fruit of a plant.
An example is Cilantro and Coriander. This herb and spice come from the same plant. Cilantro is the leafy greens of the plant, and coriander is the seed from which is grows.
