Did you know that our gut health is linked to our overall health? Well being that our gut is where we absorb nutrients from the food we eat, we are greatly affected by any toxins that may be hanging around in our gut as well as the lack of nutrients from lack of certain gut flora and enzymes. Having a healthy gut can help prevent disease, illnesses, inflammation, and improve digestion and quality of sleep and so much more! Here are some ways you can cleanse and heal your gut:
Drink Plenty of Water:
Drinking an adequate amount of water everyday will assist your body in eliminating toxins that may be inhibiting the absorption of vital immune boosting nutrients.
Eliminate Certain Foods
Foods such as sugar, flour, and vegetable oils can cause inflammation. Inflammation is great when our bodies need it in an emergency, but when the human body is in a constant inflammatory state it can cause weight gain, drowsiness, skin problems, digestive issues, and a host of diseases.
Eat/Drink Fermented Foods
Fermented foods such as Kim-chi, Kombucha, Sauerkraut, and Kifer are full of gut healing nutrients. They are rich in probiotics which play a huge role in keeping bad bacteria out and regulating inflammation.
Take a Probiotic
Along with eating fermented foods, taking a good probiotic will make add to your gut flora.
Take a Multi Enzyme
In addition to adding probiotics to the diet, it is also important that we have the proper enzymes to break down the foods we eat. Without these enzymes our bodies may recognize properties in our food as a threat instead of nutrients. When the body sees a threat it triggers inflammation which, over time, can cause destruction to the gut.
Consume Bone Broth
Drinking Bone Broth at least 1 time everyday, whether in a soup or out of a glass, can be very beneficial in the gut. It offers incredible intestinal healing power and disease prevention.
Consume Natural Gut Healers
Vitamins A, C, and E, Aloe Vera, L-Glutamine, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids are natural gut healers.
Allowing our bodies to rest means our energy can be used in the gut to allow for it to heal with ease. Practicing yoga, meditation, and/or deep breathing exercises may be beneficial.
Please consult your Primary Care Physician before trying any of these therapies.
